Sunrise Stories: Meet Josie

Josie and her two teenage daughters were living in their car.

They had moved back to Austin to care for her aging mother.

“Securing housing felt impossible,” shared Josie.

Cold nights in her cramped car made Josie feel like she was failing her girls.

She feared shelters weren’t safe and didn’t know where to turn.

That’s when Julie at Foundation Communities referred Josie to the Sunrise Wayfinder rehousing program.

Thanks to financial support like yours, Josie and her daughters moved into their new home the day before Thanksgiving with Sunrise’s help!

“The warmth and security brought us all relief”, said Josie.

Now, Josie’s daughters are back in school and she’s able to focus on caring for her mother.

For Josie, home means safety, comfort, and hope.

This Christmas, you are helping families like Josie’s overcome barriers to housing.

Thank you for giving the gift of home.
