Sunrise Hotline
The Sunrise Hotline provides housing navigation and resources over the phone for individuals and families who are experiencing homelessness in the Austin metro area. Services include coordinated assessments, housing interventions, and connections to Sunrise programs and services.
About
The Sunrise Hotline started as a pilot program in January 2022 as a way to benefit mutual aid and faith based outreach groups by allowing them to access housing interventions for the people they serve. It became a cornerstone of our organization in June 2022 and is now available to any community member in need. The hotline call center provides the lowest barrier access by providing housing interventions via phone or text. For many, the hotline is essential for connecting people who don’t feel safe or are unable to access traditional programs like the Sunrise Hub. This may include families with small children, individuals who cannot take off from work, domestic abuse survivors, people living deep in the woods, or those with mobility issues. In October 2024, the Sunrise Hotline expanded it’s hours to 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM thanks to the support from the City of Austin.
Hours of Operation
The Sunrise Hotline phone number is 512-522-1097 and is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

Sunrise Hotline Success Story
Brittany’s Story
In June 2022, Brittany called the Sunrise Hotline seeking housing resources. She had been homeless in Austin for several months after fleeing her home in Arkansas due to domestic violence. Because of this, she had nowhere to go and came to Austin with her two kids in hopes of finding help here. When completing her housing assessment, she mentioned she had a close family friend in Missouri where she and her children could stay but had no way of getting there. Sunrise was able to connect with the family friend and purchase her family a bus ticket to leave that same day. Brittany and her young children are now off the streets, staying with her friend and we are so happy we could help this family get into a safer housing situation. From Brittany, "I just really need to say thank you. That bus ticket LITERALLY saved my life. Because I wasn't going to be able to continue that life without these two..."
