Volunteer with Sunrise

Sunrise's community impact is fueled by hundreds of volunteers who give their time and energy to make our mission possible every day! From our Hub volunteers who provide essential services multiple times a week, to our once-a-month support services team, we partner with individuals, families, groups, and those who need to complete community service to serve thousands of people experiencing homelessness each year.

Individual opportunities

There are several ways to volunteer at Sunrise. Follow these steps to get started:

  2. Fill out the volunteer application below to β€œjoin” our organization.

  3. Register for a volunteer orientation.

Group Opportunities

Volunteer at our location or yours! Our group opportunities vary based on the size of the group, budget, and staff availability.

Group events should be scheduled at least one month in advance and will be confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Ways To Volunteer

  • Cafe

    Sunrise serves approximately 300 meals per day at our Hub location. This opportunity includes prepping and serving food and drinks, stocking self-serve items, as well as washing dishes and cleaning up.

    Two shifts are available Monday through Friday:

    • Shift A from 8:15 am - 11:00 am

    • Shift B from 10:45 am - 1:30 pm

  • Mail Room

    Sunrise serves as a mailing address for approximately 10,000 individuals. This opportunity includes distributing mail to our clients at our Hub location, as well as filing, purging, and bundling mail to keep things running smoothly.

    Two shifts are available Monday through Friday:

    • Shift A from 8:45 am - 11:00 am 

    • Shift B from 10:45 am - 1:00 pm

  • Clothing

    Sunrise receives donations on a daily basis at our Hub location for distribution at our twice-weekly clothing shop. This opportunity includes sorting donations and restocking the racks for our shop, as well as distributing clothing directly to our clients.

    • Organizing shifts are available Monday through Friday and can take place anytime between 8am-4pm

    • Shop shifts are Tuesday and Thursday, 9:30am-12:00pm

  • Second Saturdays

    Once per month, our volunteer community comes together on the weekend to do some behind-the-scenes work. Tasks include landscaping, cleaning, organizing, restocking, etc. at our Hub location. This opportunity occurs every Second Saturday with two shifts:

    • Shift A from 9:00 am - 11:00 am

    • Shift B from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

  • Cook From home

    In addition to donated food, Sunrise is proud to serve delicious, homemade meals to our unhoused neighbors on a daily basis - and they’re always a favorite! Volunteers pick-up ingredients from our pantry at the Hub location, cook entrees, sides, and desserts at home, and bring them back for us to serve.

  • Food Transport

    Sunrise receives a number of food donations from other organizations, restaurants, or caterers. Volunteers pick-up some of the donations and deliver them to our Hub location.
