A New Milestone For our ambassadors

We’re celebrating an incredible milestone for three of our Ambassadors: Aaron, Kevin, and John! Thanks to the dedicated work from Sunrise’s CHN Case Manager, Davicia, these three gentlemen have their own housing. 

2026 marks the second anniversary of our Neighbors Helping Neighbors Ambassador Program. This initiative provides paid opportunities for people experiencing homelessness to keep our local businesses, streets and parks clean, building confidence along the way. 

Homelessness can happen for many reasons, and every journey is unique. For Aaron, Kevin, and John, unexpected challenges including job loss, reentering the community after incarceration, and health issues led to periods of homelessness. But with determination, opportunity, and the support of our team, each found a path forward toward stability and home.

Our Ambassadors are trusted members of our community. They lead by example everyday and reflect Sunrise’s mission of building person-centered programming to create pathways to housing in Austin. Aaron, Kevin, and John embody our values of trust, collaboration, and belonging.  They consistently show up for their neighbors through rain, heat, challenges, and victories. These Ambassadors assist our clients, support our staff, and create a welcoming environment at Sunrise. Along the way, they have shown resilience, commitment, and the willingness to grow. They now have the stability to continue on their journey, all thanks to their perseverance and drive.

A shout out to our Operations Coordinator, Michelle, who works closely with our Ambassadors every day and gives encouragement, leadership, and unwavering support! Her mentorship is evident in moments like this.

This success belongs to many people, but most importantly, it belongs to Aaron, Kevin, and John. Their journey is a powerful reminder that support, opportunity, and determination can transform lives.
